POSITION DESCRIPTION

DBA will be responsible for managing the MS SQL and Oracle databases supporting SAAS cloud platform for regulated industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

Oracle:

  • Must have experience supporting large scale web based applications
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle 11G, database design and Architecture in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Proficiency in installation, configuration and administration of Oracle database software, Server side load balancing, Service based connectivity, Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Physical and Virtual network address management, patching.
  • Must be knowledgeable about underlying Oracle database architecture schemas/products, database objects, file system structure, tables, views, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, indexes, and constraints
  • Excellent knowledge of shell scripting and ability to write his/her own scripts in Unix/Linux environments required.
  • Expert in Database structure changes, table/index sizing, SGA sizing, SQL, I/O and Application tuning, transaction monitoring, detecting lock contentions, tuning sort operations required and advanced troubleshooting techniques such as block dumps, setting event traces etc.
  • Expert in database backup/recovery, Database High Availability configurations, Fail-over, Disaster Recovery concepts
  • Should have good understanding of the underlying network and storage concepts such as SAN, NAS etc.
  • Experience with database level encryption and security a plus

MSSQL:

  • Excellent knowledge of MS SQL 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014 Enterprise
  • Proficiency in installation, configuration and administration of MS SQL database software including understanding of Analytic Cubes.
  • Must be knowledgeable about underlying MS SQL database architecture schemas/products, database objects, file system structure, tables, views, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, indexes, and constraints
  • Knowledge of power shell scripting and ability to write his/her own scripts to support maintenance or auditing.
  • Detecting lock contentions, tuning sort operations required and advanced troubleshooting techniques such as block dumps, setting event traces etc.
  • Expert in database backup/recovery, Disaster Recovery concepts.
  • Should have good understanding of the underlying network and storage concepts such as SAN, NAS, Amazon EBS, etc.
  • Be able to provide on call support and after-hours support for system maintenance.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Must have good communication & documentation skills

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • At least 7+ years of hands-on experience supporting high transaction volume databases in a mission critical environment such as ERP systems, e-commerce
  • Bachelor degree in engineering related studies highly preferred
  • Be able to provide on call support as needed
  • Prior experience supporting federal agencies is a plus
  • Should have good communication & documentation skills
  • U.S. citizenship is required
